It’s 1979, in a world where the Space Race has continued. The Americans have established a beachhead on the Moon at Hadley Base, an eighteen-person NASA facility. The Soviets have their own Zvezda Base, located on the edge of Copernicus Crater. Crewed military facilities orbit the Earth – the United States Air Force Manned Orbiting Laboratories, and the Soviet Almaz craft, each equipped with high-powered optical telescopes to surveil their enemies … and each armed with formidable defenses. Vivian Carter, US naval aviator and NASA astronaut, enters this arena as commander of a peaceful exploratory Apollo 32 mission flying to the Marius Hills.
